The Ignitech system for use on Laverdas
http://www.ignitech.cz/english/aindex.htm
This is still a do it your self project but the knowledge base is getting deeper
courtesy of the MSN Laverda List.
Ignitech can supply a 'black box' and pickups and coils. what a Laverda owner would have to do is fabricate fixings and a rotor. it all seems possible and at approximately Euro 110 ( £75 sterling / $180 AUD / $150 USD ) for a programmable box, Euro 11 for a pickup and Euro 27 for a two ht lead coil . i am looking deeper at it. Hande off the 'other' list has got one and will let me see his design
The boiled down version of what is below:
For the 120 the Ignitech site
lists a TCIP4 - 4-channel version available on demand. this one is a
four-channel system with three channels
in used.
All other Laverdas will run on the regular TCIP 2-channel version.
"Leo Tjurin has the Ignitech
on an RGS Corsa, 1200 triple and a 750 twin -
that pretty much covers all available Laverda
configurations except the 350 - 750 twin 180 deg.
crank family (Alpina, Montjuich, Atlas, Zane-bikes).
But then, if the system is compatible with a 180 deg.
triple, it will work on a 180 deg. twin.
Leo sent me pictures of his RGS setup. It is very
simple in fact. A lonely pick-up with a four-point
rotor. Three of the points are for the three cylinders
and one is for the system to recognize which cylinder
is the number one and to calculate the revs off. The three
ignition points are evenly spaced at 120 deg intervals
and a smaller point is just a few degrees ahead of
the number one cylinder point. The Ignitech system
on this one is a four-channel system with three channels
in use. The Ignitech site lists it as a "TCIP4 4-channel
version available on demand". All other Laverdas will
run on the regular TCIP 2-channel version."
